Indian Institute of Management Bangalore (IIMB) hosted ‘Sammantran’, an inter B-school case challenge competition and conclave, organised for the first time by the students of the Executive Post-Graduate Programme (EPGP).

The case challenge event had finalists from IIM Ahmedabad (PGPX), IIM Bangalore (EPGP), IIM Calcutta (PGPEX), IIM Lucknow (IPMX) and ISB who competed to provide solutions to the challenges faced by Sant Singaji Institute of Science and Management (SSISM) in the final round.

After an intense day of competition, discussions and networking between business students and industry leaders, Team Small Council from the Indian School of Business (ISB) won the case challenge and a cash prize of Rs. 70,000. The team from IIM Ahmedabad emerged as the runners-up and won a cash prize of Rs. 30,000.

Lecture

Laurence R. Simon from Brandeis University, U.S., delivered a lecture on the topic “Development of All: Overcoming Inequalities and Discrimination” organised by the Centre for the Study of Social Exclusion and Inclusive Policy at the National Law School of India University, Bangalore.

Addressing the students, he said, “Reduce poverty but increase inequality is a paradigm that is being observed in India, United States and China, and this paradigm is posing a serious challenge to the capitalist mode of development.”

Festival

SSR Group of Institutions organised ‘Boom’, the second season of the international students’ festival in which students from 23 colleges participated. Sports and cultural events were organised.

Book release

Xavier Institute of Management and Entrepreneurship (XIME) hosted the release of the book “The Accidental Scholar,” an autobiography of educationist Jagdish N. Sheth.

Having worked in several Ivy League universities and written 75 books, he has also been awarded and honoured by the American Marketing Association.
