Indian Express has reported that the most common surname on the so-called HSBC Geneva branch black money list are Mehta and Patel.
With this piece of information, those hating Gujarat for some reasons have started posting tweets and Facebook status updates targeting Gujarat, Gujaratis and also their favorite Mr. Modi.
Congress party’s youth wing, Indian Youth Congress has posted a tweet in which it says: The most common surnames of the foreign account holders list are Mehta and Patel. Does that mean Gujarat will be embarrassed?
The list which contains names and holdings of 628 individual or entities with accounts in HSBC Private Bank, Geneva branch was given to India by France in June 2011, after the information was stolen from the bank by a former employee in 2006.
It seems, after Maharashtra elections, the black money list will bring another season of Gujarat bashing by select group of politicians and NGO operators. It should be mentioned that Union Finance Minister has hinted recently that the names of those against whom the Income Tax department is going to file cases will be revealed in court.
