BHUBANESWAR: City-based International Institute of Information Technology, Bhubaneswar (IIITB) at Gothapatna on the city outskirts is likely to have its first board of governors by November-end.
Sources said the search committee has finalized 10 names - five each from the industry and academics - for formation of the board.
"The committee has shortlisted 10 names for the board of governors.
We have sought their concurrence, following which six names will be finalized with due approval from the state government," special secretary of IT department R N Palai told TOI.
Names of director of Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Bhubaneswar, Sujit Roy, dean IIIT, Bangalore Debabrat Das, director of IIIT Hyderabad P J Narayanan, director IIT Kharagpur Partha Pratim Chakraborthy and former BPUT vice-chancellor Omkarnath Mohanty are the five academics whose names have been shortlisted by the state government for the board.
From the industries, the government has nominated Subroto Bagchi, chairman of IT firm mind tree, director general of software technology park of India (STPI) Omkar Rai, National Association of Software and Services Companies (Nasscom) chairman R Chandrasekhar, founder of Mastek, Ashank Desai and chief executive officer of Ganesh Natarajan of Zensar Technology.
By November-end, the six names will be finalized, official sources said.
The main functions of the board will include general superintendent and powers to review the work of the senate, decisions on policy matters, administration, finalization of different courses. The board would meet four times a year, as prescribed in the IIIT, Bhubaneswar Act 2013.
