Mad and brainless hatred against Gujarat, Gujaratis and other non-Marathi section has resulted into worst defeat of Raj Thackeray led Maharashtra Navnirman Sena(MNS). Party had fielded 219 candidates in 288-seat strong Maharashtra assembly general elections. Of them 203 have lost deposit. This is the highest number among all political parties in Maharashtra that contested the polls.

According to figures available, NCP’s 148 and Congress’s 142 candidates lost deposit. This is much higher than the number of elected candidates of both parties.

Out of total 1798 independent candidates, 1683 lost deposit, while 7 were successful to get elected.

While general category candidate has to pay Rs. 10,000 as deposit, each SC and ST candidate pays Rs. 5,000 as deposit. Those who can’t get 1/6 number of votes lose deposit.
