Showers play spoilsport for shacks at Arambol
MAPUSA: Rain has dampened the start of the tourist season this year along the coastal belt of Pernem.
The erection of shacks was held up on Friday and Saturday because of the continuous rain.
The tourism season has almost begun in Arambol with tourists-- both domestic and foreigners—making their way to the coast. Temporary shops selling clothes, artifacts, sunglasses, shoes, sandals and bags had a tough time from protecting themselves from the rain.
Beach beds also had to be lifted because of the continuous rain.
Some shacks which are already opened for tourists in Arambol could not do much business as the rain water leaked through the temporary roofs.
The tourist season starts a little later in Morjim and Mandrem, but tourism stakeholders have already begun gearing up for the season. The rain may further delay the beginning of the season by a week along this coastal belt.
