Thousands of people took part in anti-water charge protests in Limerick, Cork and Tralee, Co Kerry today.

Some protests were organised by the Anti-Austerity Alliance and the 'We Won't Pay' campaign.

Around 6,000 people were at the march in Limerick, where Anti-Austerity Alliance councillor Cian Prendiville said the protest demonstrated a revolt against water charges.

He said postponing the charges was not enough and people want them completely abandoned.

Around 3,000 people marched in Cork and around 1,000 people attended an anti-water charge protest in Tralee in Co Kerry, which was organised by Sinn Féin.
