Dundee 2-0 Hamilton Academical

David Clarkson and Greg Stewart grabbed the goals as Dundee beat table-topping Hamilton Academical to secure their first home league win of the season.

Clarkson nodded his fourth goal in four league games and Stewart slotted home the second with a left-foot drive.

Hamilton remain top of the pile despite seeing their 11-game unbeaten run end.

Dundee boss Paul Hartley described Hamilton's visit as the Premiership's "game of the day" and it started that way with Mickael Antoine-Curier drawing a great stop from home goalkeeper Scott Bain after some excellent passing from Accies.

Hamilton have enjoyed a fantastic return to Scotland's top tier and that was emphasised in 12 minutes when they set a new club top-flight clean sheet record, surpassing the previous 416 minutes set in season 2008-09.

At the other end, Andreu passed up a decent chance before Clarkson should have done a lot better for Dundee after getting on the end of a cross from Paul McGowan.

The best chance of the first 45 minutes fell to Hamilton when some terrific passing play led to a shot from Andreu which hit Thomas Konrad and then fell to Dougie Imrie, who forced a superb reflex save from Bain.

Accies had a strong claim for a penalty turned down by referee John Beaton four minutes into the second half when Danny Redmond was fouled at the edge of the box, with the Accies players claiming it was just inside.

Dundee took the lead when Gary Harkins' corner picked out Clarkson at the back post and he rose to bullet a header past Michael McGovern.

And Stewart then burst through the Accies defence and showed great composure to blast home a left-foot shot.

Hamilton boss Alex Neil will be looking for more from his front men when they travel to face Aberdeen in the Scottish League Cup quarter-final at Pittodrie on Wednesday.
