Dr Biju plans Endosulfan victims rehabilitation village

Dr Biju plans Endosulfan victims rehabilitation village
The makers of the film Valiya Chirakulla Pakshikal, headed by director Biju, is planning something which goes beyond their realm of film making. The team is in talks to associate with other agencies to set up a rehabilitation village for the victims of Endosulphan.
The idea took shape as he visited the families of the children affected by the dreaded pesticide, says Dr Biju."It was heartrending to hear the parents of the children say that they will have to commit suicide along with their children as there will be no one to take care of their children after their death.
There have been cases of such suicides as well."
Currently, there are around 8000 children affected by Endosulfan in the area, and while it is impossible to rehabilitate all of them, the team is planning to start off in a small way. "We are trying to include at least 50 families, by associating with other agencies. The government has made many such promises, but when will they work out? Endosulfan tragedy is like Hiroshima, as it doesn't end with the victims, new victims are born every day, and it gets passed on to the next generation."
Dr Biju's film, starring Kunchacko Boban, revolves around the Endosulfan tragedy, and the director hopes to attract the attention of international agencies to the tragedy through the film.
