SEPANG: Young Spanish rider Pol Espargaro’s hopes of starting the MotoGP race on Sunday is hanging in the balance after he suffered a heavy fall and fractured the second metatarsal in his left foot in morning practice.

Espargaro, who won the Moto2 world title last year, suffered a big spill at Turn 1 with less than three minutes of the third practice session remaining – causing the red flag to come out.
