The Highways Agency has warned those using the NEC and Birmingham Airport of possible delays

One of the busiest motorway junctions in the West Midlands has been partially closed for a £2.5m redevelopment.

Work at junction six of the M42 outside Birmingham will see a carriageway reconstructed over the A45.

The exit slip road will remain closed until Monday except for the dedicated left hand turn on to the A45 westbound.

The Highways Agency warned drivers, including those visiting the NEC and flying from Birmingham Airport, to allow more time for their journeys.

Work is being carried out as part of the agency's Pinch Point scheme, designed to reduce congestion and improve traffic flow on motorways.
