HYDERABAD: Chinese world No. 7 Zhengming Wang ended Parupalli Kashyap's dream run in the quarterfinals of the French Open Super Series in Paris on Friday, winning 21-15, 13-21, 21-13.
Kashyap, who defeated the world No. 4 and No. 9 in the first two rounds, ran out of gas in the last-eight stage. After losing the first game at 15-21, Kashyap made a good comeback and pushed the match in the decider by winning the second.

However, the Indian lost the plot in the early stages of the decider as he allowed Wang to take an 8-2 lead.
Thereafter, Wang hardly gave a chance for Kashyap to make a comeback. From 8-3 he moved to 14-6 and then to 17-7 in quick succession.
Though Kashyap tried hard, all that he could do was to secure a few inconsequential points towards the end of the encounter.
Saina Nehwal, who will face Wang Shixian, is the only Indian left in the fray.
Late on Thursday, the doubles duo of Jwala Gutta and Ashwini Ponnappa proved no match for seventh seeds Xiaoli Wang and Yang Yu in the second round.
The Chinese ousted the Indians in just 23 minutes 21-6, 21-16. Indian challenge ended in the men's doubles as Pranaav Jerry Chopra and Akshay Dewalkar lost to third seeds Sheng Mu Lee and Chia Hsin Tsai of Chinese Taipei 15-21, 21-19, 15-21.
