Gurgaon Police arrest businessman who shot wife dead

The Gurgaon Police has arrested businessman Deepak Khullar, who shot his wife nine times on Wednesday morning at his upscale Palam Vihar residence.

Police Commissioner Alok Mittal confirmed the arrest of Khullar. The pistol used in the crime was also seized from his possession. Following his arrest, the businessman will be produced in a local court on Saturday. The police are likely to seek Khullar's custody to interrogate him regarding the murder case. An FIR against Khullar under Section 302 (murder) of the IPC was lodged at the Palam Vihar police station.

Khullar had shot dead his wife Alka in a fit of rage on October 22. The accused used to reside with his wife in 'E' block of Palam Vihar.

Neighbours had claimed that Alka, 50, was miffed with her husband over his extramarital affair. They added that the couple had fights over the issue. Deepak had, in fact, threatened Alka with dire consequences in the past, they said.

Sensing trouble, Alka had called up her daughter just before the crime took place. The daughter lives with her husband in west Delhi's Janakpuri area. The police have contacted the couple's son who is a pilot based in Indonesia.
