An evening of South Asian Carnatic music

Sanskruti School of Dance, Cambridge presents an evening of classical Carnatic music on Saturday, 25th October, 2014 from 5:00 -6:30 pm. Three young talented artists bring together a musical confluence of the Indian Venu (Flute), Mridangam (Percussion) and the Violin. The concert is open to adults and children. Artist profiles:
Yatheesan Selvakumar
Yatheesan was exposed to Carnatic music at the age of five. After several years of training, he staged his graduation concerts in both Mridangam and Flute under the tutelage of Sri P Kirupakaran and Sri P Gnanavarathan, respectively. He has won several competitions and delivered exceptional solo performances in the UK and abroad. Yatheesan recently performed with a sitarist at the BBC proms. Yatheesan continues his musical education with Sri S Shashank and is a regular visitor to Chennai to perform during the December Sabas.
Senthuran Premakumar
Senthuran is a senior disciple of Sri Somusundara Desigar and completed his Arangetram under his Guru’s guidance. Senthuran was the youngest ever recipient of the ‘Asian Music Circuit Award’, a music scholarship awarded by the ‘Croydon Music Festival’. This allowed him the privilege honing his skills in Mridangam under the maestro Guru Kaaraikkudi R Mani. Senthuran has accompanied several leading artists from India on the mridangam including Lalgudi G J R Krishnan, A. Kanyakumari and Papanasam Ashok Ramani.
Achuthan Sripathmanathan
Achuthan began his training in Violin under the tutelage of Thiruvarur Sri L. Kothandapani and did his Arangetram in 2004. He has taken part in many competitions on behalf of Trinity school of music and won prizes including the 'Asian Music Circuit Award’ presented by 'Croydon Music Festival‘, which enabled him to continue training under the famous violinist Late Sri Lalgudi G Jeyaraman. At present, Achuthan is learning under AGA Gananasundaram who is the prime disciple of Sri Lalgudi Jeyaraman. Achuthan has also accompanied several Artists and performed in many dance Arangetrams.
