The ‘Green Diwali’ campaigns, awareness drives and rallies taken out across the city against firecrackers seem to have had no impact, with the city recording air and noise pollution beyond permissible levels again this year.

The maximum noise pollution was reported between 8 pm and 10 pm. At one place, in Sector 22, it was higher than last year.

The Chandigarh Pollution Control Committee monitored the air quality and noise levels. Apart from Diwali night, data was collected a week before Diwali from sectors 17, 22 and 29.
