Wiz Khalifa Drops Interactive ‘Stayin Out All Night’ Video

Newsflesh: Wiz Khalifa is still releasing music. Some people may have forgotten that fact while they’re spending a lot of time up in the rapper’s personal business.

These days, you can’t spend 10 minutes on the internet without running into something about Wiz’s crumbling marriage to professional eye candy Amber Rose. Even this article, which is about Khalifa’s latest music video, started out by referring to the drama surrounding the guy’s troubled relationship. Such is the world, such is the internet.

For those who care more about Wiz’s career than his love life, behold the interactive music video for his latest single, “Stayin’ Out All Night.” As the title suggests, Wiz Khalifa wiles away the evening hours by partaking in a number of video-worthy shenanigans. Here’s the best part: You get to choose how the night unfolds. It’s kind of cool.

As MTV News points out, Wiz Khalifa’s latest clip starts out inside a zoo. After waking up inside a gorilla cage, the rapper begins digging through his phone for clues as to how he found himself in such a precarious situation. Thus begins our adventure with Khalifa and Wayne’s World star Tia Carrere. Yes, she’s apparently still around.

After a brief introduction, viewers have an opportunity to choose between a handful of different scenarios. However, you’d better act fast — the video won’t wait around while you phone a friend to help you out. The choices are pretty simple — crash a wedding or get wasted — but the interactive aspect is definitely a nice touch.

If you haven’t picked up a copy of Wiz Khalifa’s Blacc Hollywood yet, then some people firmly believe you’re missing out on something truly special. For example, Rolling Stone critic Simon Vozick-Levinson seems to think the album is worthy of three-and-a-half stars. That’s out of five, mind you. Not great, but not too shabby.

“This past spring, rap’s top weedhead scored a lung-busting hit with ‘We Dem Boyz,’ a street anthem unlike anything he’d done before. It was a surprisingly fun departure, but the rest of Khalifa’s fifth solo album sticks more closely to his usual formula: supremely chill singsong flows about how much Wiz loves to get high, over beats as softly enveloping as a cloud of sweet smoke… ‘Blacc Hollywood’ makes you want to come along for the ride.”

So forget what you’re reading about Wiz Khalifa and Amber Rose. The guy is at his best when he’s making music, not drama for the tabloid crowd. What do you think about the interactive video for the rapper’s single “Stayin’ Out All Night”?
