Managing partner to leave accountants after 30 years [Gloucestershire Echo (England)]

(Gloucestershire Echo (England) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) AFTER 30 years service, Ian Selwood has decided to leave Cheltenham-based accountants Randall & Payne LLP.

He hands over the managing partner role to Tim Watkins. Mr Selwood started work at the firm as an apprentice straight from school, passing his accounting technician exams and then his Chartered Accountancy exams, rising swiftly to manager and then to partner in 1996.

He became managing partner in 2011 and steered the business through its biggest period of acquisition and change, helping it become the firm it is today. Mr Selwood said: "I've worked tirelessly for the firm for the last 30 years and frequently put my business life before my personal life as my very understanding wife Sue will testify. "Any successful business owner will know that running a business is a huge commitment but the rewards when you see your plans come to fruition are fantastic.

"Contrary to popular belief, my life as an accountant was never dull.

"Now I think it's time to put my personal life first. I'm going to take a year out to plan what I do next. I'm proud of what the team and I have achieved over the last few years and I'm sure that Randall & Payne will continue to go from strength to strength.

"I'd like to thank my clients, the great team at Randall & Payne and the huge number of friends I have in the Gloucestershire business community for their friendship, loyalty and support over the years. I'll still be around and will bump into many of them at the rugby in the future." Mr Watkins said: "Ian has played a huge part in the growth and success of the firm.

"We will all miss him although he will be around for a while yet to help with a smooth handover.
