Victim’s mom accuses in-laws of harassment

MAPUSA: The family members of the 23-year-old woman from Aldona who committed suicide seven months after getting married, accused the in-laws of the victim of killing her or forcing her to take the drastic step.
Vidhi Kerkar, 23, from Kasalwada in Aldona committed suicide by allegedly hanging herself from the roof of her bedroom on October 16.
Since Vidhi married Vasudev Kerkar only seven months ago, and the death occurred within seven years of marriage, the Bardez deputy collector is inquiring into the case.Milan Mayekar, mother of the deceased, filed a complaint with Bardez deputy collector Sabaji Shetye against her son-in-law Vasudev and his mother Taramati.
According to the complainant, the accused were harassing her daughter by ill-treating her and not sending her to her mother’s home. The complainant also stated that the accused were demanding a car and gold necklace from Vidhi. The deputy collector is further investigating the case.
