Flir Systems Q3 Results Beat View, Tightens 2014 Outlook - Quick Facts

Flir Systems, Inc. (FLIR) Friday reported third-quarter net earnings of $52.9 million or $0.37 per share, up from $46.5 million or $0.32 per share in the previous year.

The recent quarter results were impacted by net after tax restructuring charges of $0.02 per share.

On average, 11 analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected the company to earn $0.35 per share for the quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.

The manufacturer of thermal imaging, and other sensing products and systems said its quarterly revenues increased 5 percent to $375.4 million from $358.1 million a year earlier. Analysts estimated revenues of $368.31 million for the quarter.

Flir's backlog of firm orders for delivery within the next twelve months was about $579 million as of September 30, 2014, an increase of 6 percent during the quarter and an increase of 18 percent since the beginning of 2014.

The company tightened its outlook for revenue and earnings per share for the full year 2014. Flir now expects full-year net earnings, excluding restructuring charges, in a range of $1.43 to $1.48 per share, compared to the prior range of $1.40 to $1.50 per share.

Revenue for 2014 are now anticipated in a range of $1.48 billion to $1.53 billion, compared to the prior range of $1.45 billion to $1.55 billion.

Analysts are looking for earnings of $1.36 per share for the year on revenues of $1.51 billion.

The board has also declared a quarterly cash dividend of $0.10 per share, payable on December 5 to shareholders of record on November 18.
