Comedy: Denver Improv Festival is smokin’ hot
Friday-Sunday. Denver entrepreneur Kayvan Khalatbari has already been lighting up the local stand-up and podcast scene by throwing a couple thousand bucks of sponsorship money at it each month, so why not add improvised comedy into the mix? This year’s eighth annual Denver Improv Festival will, for the second time, bear the support of Khalatbari’s Sexpot Comedy brand and his Denver Relief cannabis shop/medical dispensary. Improv nonprofit the GroupMind Foundation will again split performances between downtown’s Bovine Metropolis Theater and the Ballpark neighborhood’s Voodoo Comedy Playhouse. Performers include Jet & Holly (Los Angeles), 3peat (Chicago), I’m Too Fragile for This (New York), Bearded Men Improv (Minneapolis) and a number of Denver’s best improv troupes.
