So, the most anticipated movie trailer of the year is out and doesn't it remind you of Forrest Gump, whose mama told him stupid is as stupid does?
It's early days and any collaboration between Rajkumar Hirani and Aamir Khan is bound to be thought provoking and entertaining but it certainly reminded me of Forrest, and not only because one of the costumes PK wears in the trailer is that of an Army officer.
#1. Various townspeople find something very odd about his "'headlight jaisi aankhen"' and his "flying saucer jaise kaan". They chase him and he keeps running. Will he become a coast to coast marathoner like Forrest? Not likely but it is eerily similar.
#2. PK is not very bright. Neither was Forrest. And yet, as Robert Downey Jr's character in Tropic Thunder puts it, he doesn't play "full retard" which puts off audiences. Forrest was an idiot savant. PK is a character with a habit of correcting people's mistakes. ''Jitna ajeeb, utna hi dil ke kareeb.''
#3. PK has a special friend, just like Forrest had Jenny, who seems to be the guiding light of his life.
#4. The movie has a voiceover. In Forrest Gump, it was Tom Hanks'' voice; in PK, it is Anushka Sharma.
#5. Forrest had a box of chocolates, PK has a love for paan--paan dekhte hi paani aa jaata hai.
