Wattle Range Council has welcomed Kimberly Clark Australia's (KCA) announcement of a multimillion dollar investment at its Millicent plant.
The company will spend $20 million to boost capacity and upgrade equipment.
It is estimated the plant injects $130 million into South Australia's economy each year.
Mayor Peter Gandolfi said it was important manufacturing remained in the south-east.
"Seventy-five per cent of the 370 workforce being from Millicent and surrounds, our local economy relies on KCA as the single biggest employer in the region," he said.
"I'd not only like to congratulate KCA on meeting world-class environmental standards but also investing in technology that makes this mill competitive on the world stage."
