This Will Destroy You

This Will Destroy You is a four-piece Texas band historically disinterested in labels. Listening to the quartet’s introspective instrumental tracks, the easy-out would be to categorize them as post-rock. But the band has opted instead for the term “doomgaze” instead. Blending the intensity of doom metal with the fragility of shoegaze, the music burns slowly, shifting from ambient to turbulent and back. This Will Destroy You’s newest album, “Another Language,” is out now, and the group is scheduled to play Brighton Music Hall on Thursday. Calling from his home in Dallas, drummer and Massachusetts native Alex Bhore shared the five best concerts he’s seen in recent years.

1. Swans I’ve seen Swans twice now, and both times were equally shocking and moving to me in so many ways. I went to both shows by myself — I just stood by myself and let it hit me. Easily the heaviest band I’ve ever seen and the loudest band I’ve ever heard.

2. Blonde Redhead I would say they’re definitely my favorite pop band — not to even limit them to that [genre]. They’re so much more than that. . . . My favorite thing about them is how consistent they are: They always sound perfect in a very imperfect way.

3. The Budos Band They were the first band that I heard that existed in that [neo-soul funk revival] scene that led me to all these other bands in that genre.. . . I saw them at Fun Fun Fun Fest a couple of years ago.

4. The Jesus Lizard Getting to see them play after reuniting after so many years was crazy, just because of how good they are. . . . It was so cool to just hear them play, because I never ever thought I would. When I got into them, they had long broken up. I wasn’t even ready for it.

5. My Bloody Valentine They’re easily my favorite band that involves electric guitar, or any rock element. They have been for a long time, and that show was everything I wanted it to be. I was really excited to see they were all energetic and super happy to be there. Raffaela Kenny-Cincotta
