One of this week’s releases, Namaste Madam, is the remake of the Telugu film Missamma. But according to director Raghuraj, the
Kannada version is as good as a new, original film. “Missamma released a decade ago, at a time when the sentiments of commercial filmmaking were very different. We had to rework the script completely to give it a new and rather fresh feel.
The songs and the settings are all new and, hence, Namaste Madam is not old wine in a new bottle. The film is a pucca family entertainer, with the right dose of love, romance and action in it,” he says.
But going by images from the film, there appears to be hot and sizzling chemistry between lead actor Srinagara Kitty and the two ladies, Ragini Dwivedi and Nikesha Patel. How, then, is this a family entertainer? “There is no denying that there is sensuality in the film, but it is not vulgar. Also, if you look at the average Kannada movie audience, the percentage of children under the age of 10 is minimal. This is a film that can be seen by older children, under the guidance of their parents,” says Raghuraj. The director adds that the highlight of Namaste Madam is Kitty’s performance, which he claims is one of the best in the actor’s career. Supporting the main cast are actors like Sadhu Kokila and Seetha. “Add to that the music, especially the song Pakka Local, and the visuals and we have a good package in hand,” says Ragini.
