Sony Max takes up Marathi film for telecast

It is a norm to dub South language films for television viewing but for the first time a leading television channel like Sony Max has taken up a Marathi film and dubbed it in Hindi. And Aayna Ka Bayna, the Marathi film about today’s youth for today’s youth, will, for the first time, have a satellite premiere on its channel.
The film is about how nine wayward youths in a juvenile home learn to live and dream about their passion for dance thus inspiring one to chase his dreams. Aayna Ka Bayna which was released in November 2012, has been screened at over 16 international film festivals, like the 13th ReelWorld Film Festival Toronto 2013, 39th Seattle International Film Festival 2013, Stuttgart, Germany 10th Indian Film Festival 2013” (Europe), 7th Mosaic South Asian International Film festival 2013 (Mississauga) (Canada), Moondance International Film Festival 2013 (USA), 7th Buffalo International Film Festival 2013 (USA), Chicago International Film and Music Festival 2014 to name a few. The film has also won several awards at different events including Best Film, Best Director, Special Jury Award and others.
Young director Samit Kakkad is obviously thrilled at the prospect of his debut Marathi film now reaching out to a wider audience through television. He says, “Now Aayna... can be viewed by many. The film has already won hearts abroad. It is a feel-good film and very inspiring. I am happy that Sony Max chose my film. It is a great achievement for Marathi cinema. The actors have dubbed in Hindi for themselves and I managed to get a separate censor certificate for the Hindi version.”
The film, starring Sachin Khedekar, Amruta Khanvilkar, Raqesh Vashisht, Ganesh Yadav, Siddhesh Pai, Sulbha Arya and others, will be aired in November.
