Get a 'Lord of the Rings' game bundle for $9.99

One does not simply buy four games and two DLC packs for a mere 10 dollars. Or does one? (Hint: one does.)

Bundle Stars

You! Shall not! Pass (up this great deal)!

Yeah, I'm a "Lord of the Rings" nerd. So it goes without saying that I'm all over today's deal, which will delight not only my inner 12-year-old, but also my resident 12-year-old.

For a limited time, Bundle Stars has The Lord of the Rings Bundle for $9.99. That nets you four complete games and two downloadable content (DLC) packs with a combined value of over $100.

The games:

  • Guardians of Middle-earth
  • Lego Lord of the Rings
  • Lego The Hobbit
  • Lord of the Rings: War in the North

The DLC:

  • Lego The Hobbit: Complete DLC Pack
  • Guardians of Middle-earth: Smaug's Treasure

The two Lego games? Fantastic. They're fun and funny, perfect for parents and kids to play together. I'm a huge fan of all the Lego titles.

As for War in the North, it's an action-RPG that's better liked by players than critics, and definitely a fun outing for people who prefer basic hack-and-slash action to hardcore RPG. And Guardians of Middle-earth? Well, there's not a lot of love for this multiplayer online battle arena (MOBA), but given what you're paying, it's certainly worth a try -- especially if you're a newcomer to that kind of gaming.

Your 10 bucks gets you a total of eight Steam keys, meaning you'll need that client if you don't already have it. To my thinking, this is the perfect time to hook your PC or laptop to your TV and take advantage of Steam's Big Picture feature. Console, schmonsole!

I'm loving this bundle. If you feel the same, well, have fun storming the castle! (Whoops -- mixed up my movie references.)

Bonus deal: If you have Beats/Bose/Bowers taste in headphones but not the budget to match, here's a deal that should please both your ears and your wallet: For a limited time, Tanga has the Sol Republic Tracks Air wireless on-ear headphones for $134.99 shipped. That's after applying coupon code CHEAPSKATE at checkout. Available in blue or white, this top-rated Bluetooth set normally sells for $200. Packed with handy features and able to last a full 15 hours on a charge, it earned 4.6 stars from Amazon customers.
