Tunisian police exchanged gunfire with a group of armed men near the capital Thursday, AFP reports.
“Security forces have surrounded a house in Oued Ellil harboring terrorists and exchanges of gunfire are ongoing,” a spokesman said Thursday.
Some members of the security forces have been wounded and a private security guard has been killed, according to AFP.
The violence comes amid increased security as Tunisia prepares for elections this Sunday.
