Drogba: Chelsea as strong as ever

Cape Town - Didier Drogba believes this Chelsea side is as strong as the one that beat Manchester United 10 years ago.

With Diego Costa almost certainly ruled out of Sunday's clash against United and Loic Remy a major doubt, Chelsea legend Didier Drogba could start the vital English Premiership clash.

Drogba is confident in his new teammates abilities, just as he was ten years ago reports the Independent.

In August 2004, Chelsea beat Manchester United 1-0 courtesy of a goal from Eidur Gudjohnsen and Didier Drogba believes that this side is as strong as those of previous years.

Drogba netted a penalty against Maribor in Champions Leauge action and despite not being fully fit, the Ivorian may start against Manchester United on Sunday.

“[The current side has] different strengths. Different qualities. But is still as strong as the previous ones,” said Drogba.

“I think Chelsea will always be at this level because of what the players before us [the current side] created.

"The habit of winning trophies, winning big games and being in the last four and the finals.

"This is a good habit.

"Even when we stop I think Chelsea will continue this because this is a kind of legacy.”

Unbeaten so far this season and already five points clear at the top of the table, Drogba and Chelsea visit Old Trafford on Sunday to face Manchester United. The match kicks off at 18:00.
