Barkatullah University academic squad a distant dream
BHOPAL: Barkatullah University appears to have forgotten its own decision to improve standard of colleges affiliated to the varsity by regularly monitoring with an expert's committee, known as academic flying squad. In 2006-07, the university had also decided a team on lines of exams flying squad for sudden inspection of colleges to ensure their standard.
Even after seven years of decision, squad has not seen light of the day.

TOI possess a copy of the decision which clearly stated that there will be an academic flying squad. It was scheduled to regularly visit university teaching departments of BU, school of studies and affiliated colleges to see if the education standards are maintained.
Squad comprised professors nominated by vice-chancellor, three deans of faculties, principal of a college, additional director from higher education department and a nominee of VC. It was also decided to keep changing squad members in every three years.
Higher education department has also been observing quality year for improving educational standards in colleges and universities. "Department should take some steps at their level to strictly implement important decisions," said a professor on condition of anonymity.
When contacted, BU vice-chancellor MD Tiwari said such decision should have been properly implemented. "I have already started talking to colleges' principals on this issue. We will soon form a committee," Tiwari said.
He admitted that several colleges affiliated to BU are not following guidelines required to run an educational institution. "I will give them a month's time to improve situation before taking any action," the VC said.
