As part of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, Bollywood Superstar Salman Khan started the initiative of the cleanliness mission at Karjat in Maharashtra on 21 October and nominated Aamir Khan, Rajinikanth and seven others to spread the message.

Salman Khan was one of the nine people nominated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his initiative. The actor took to his Twitter page this morning and tweed, "I once again thank @narendramodi for taking up the Swachh Bharat initiative and nominating me."

Meanwhile, he shared three photos featuring him cleaning the rubbish at Karjat and wrote, "I started with Karjat yesterday. Yeh Dekho photo's."

The Superstar nominated all his followers on Twitter and Facebook and nine other celebrities and requested them to carry forward the message by nominating nine others. Salman Khan tweeted, "I nominate the following for Swachh Bharat campaign and request them to further nominate 9 more people."

The actor posted, "First, I nominate my fans on Facebook and followers on Twitter. Each one of us can make a difference. And I nominate Aamir Khan, Azim Premji, Chanda Kochhar, Omar Abdullah, Pradeep Dhoot, Rajat Sharma, Rajinikanth & Vineet Jain. (sic)"

However, Narendra Modi launched the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan on 2 October for Gandhi Jayanti. He had nominated nine celebrities - actor Salman Khan, actress Priyanka Chopra, cricketer Sachin Tendulkar, industrialist Anil Ambani, Goa Governor Mridula Sinha, Congress MP Shashi Tharoor, yoga guru Baba Ramdev, actor-producer Kamal Haasan and the team of TV serial "Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah".

Later, the Prime Minister had requested them to clean some area and upload the photos and videos of the same. "I have invited nine people and asked them to come to public places and work towards a clean India. These nine people can nominate nine more people, and they can clean and upload videos," the IANS had quoted Narendra Modi as saying.
