Louis Copeland - Everyone now wants to be Steve Jobs

Louis Copeland

John Costello

Louis Copeland lived in fear of getting the leather at school, but on the up side he almost met George Harrison!

So, dude, were you top swot or classroom clown?

[Laughs] Neither! I would have been an average student and just one of the boys.

Do you have fond memories of your school years?

Yes, they were good times at St Pat's in Drumcondra. I still remember vividly having tea and cakes after my Confirmation.

Yummy! So, what was the worst thing about school?

Making that long, lonely trip to the headmaster or getting the leather strap.

Were you a naughty little scamp?

No! The stick was a good deterrent [laughs].

What was your favourite subject?

English. I was terrible at Irish.

And the prize for your favourite teacher goes to...?

Stan O'Brien my music teacher. His classes were more relaxed and not as strict.

Who were your musical heroes?

The Beatles were top of the charts and I remember when they came to Ireland George Harrison was due to visit a relative that lived close by on Clonturk Park.

Did you get to see him?

I waited for hours waiting to catch a glimpse of him but he never arrived. Apparently he visited the next day.

Doh! What annoys you about the education system?

There is still a need for tailors and cobblers, but those skills are being lost. Everyone these days wants to be Steve Jobs.

Finally, who could do with a good suit?

Mick Wallace.

(Even he couldn't argue with that...)
