GURGAON: A video in which Pinky Chauhan purportedly gives an account of how she was harassed in college and names the lecturer who meted out that treatment has been uploaded by her family on social media.
Pinky's brother said on Wednesday the video was recorded days before Pinky succumbed to her burn injuries at Safdarjung Hospital in Delhi and the family had decided to share it to counter the police's claim that the investigation hadn't thrown up any names yet.

A second-year BSc student of Government Girls' College, Pinky set fire to herself during a protest against flawed exam scores on September 29. She suffered nearly 70% burns and passed away in hospital on October 12.
The video uploaded by her family contains Pinky's statement in which she purportedly says a lecturer gave her a matchbox. "When police showed her photographs of all lecturers, she identified the accused lecturers. After the police left, she told me that the name of the lecturer who gave her a matchbox. I made a video recording of her statement in the hospital," said Arun, Pinky's brother.
He added, "We have read in newspaper reports that the police have not been able to get any names in the investigation. It is shocking, as Pinky clearly told the police about the lecturers. We have uploaded the video on Facebook just to show the police are trying to play down the case."
A friend of Pinky who claimed she had seen the video, said, " Pinky narrates how a teacher turned gave a matchbox to her (when she threatened suicide). It's shocking. Despite the fact that she clearly named the accused, police have not been able to take any strict action against them," said the friend.

Pinky's uncle said, "No one from the college or the government turned up at Pinky's prayer meet on Tuesday. A day before elections, the administration assured us action would be taken against the accused lecturers after October 19. However, nothing has happened. We have no option but to put her video on the social media."
Additional deputy commissioner (ADC) Pushpendra Chauhan, who is spearheading the inquiry, recorded the statements of four of Pinky's college mates. "No names have yet come up in the investigation. I will submit a report soon," he said.
On the deadline to submit the report, deputy commissioner Shekhar Vidyarthi said, "Generally, the timeline to submit the report is 15 days."
The police assured full support to Pinky's family. "There is a contradiction in Pinky's statements recorded in the hospital. If she names any lecturer, we can't say the lecturer is an accused. We need to investigate further. Till now, no names have come up," said deputy commissioner of police (west) Sangeeta Rani, who is heading the police probe.
