NASHIK: Taking inspiration from the adjoining state of Gujarat, BJP MLA from Nashik Central constituency Devyani Pharande plans to pursue implementation of town planning schemes and development of Nashik as a smart city.
She said that since the development plan (DP) of the Nashik Municipal Corporation (NMC) is being revised, she will pursue the central and the state governments to implement the town planning (TP) scheme in the state on the lines of Gujarat.
Moreover, efforts would also be taken for riverfront development of the Godavari on the lines of the Sabarmati in Gujarat.
"PM Narendra Modi has announced the plan to develop smart cities. My priority would be to develop Nashik as the smart city. The Kumbh mela is being held in Nashik next year and proper planning would also be done for the convenience of the pilgrims. Efforts would be made to form a special authority for the Kumbh Mela. We will also continuously communicate with the government for release of funds," Pharande told TOI.
She said that she would focus on industrial development in Nashik. "Not a single large company has arrived in Nashik in past 15 years. The development of industrial estates in Nashik and generating employment for youths from Nashik would be the top agenda."
Pharande said that people voted for the sake of development and the Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of development for the country. She defeated MNS leader Vasant Gite by margin of 28,272 votes. "I will never break the trust shown in me," she said.
