Japan offers help for ‘smart’ Andhra capital

A delegation from these organisations met Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Wednesday and said that they were interested in studying the region and helping the AP government design and set up the capital as per requirements.

The delegation was also keen on power projects including 4,000 MW thermal power plant in Visakhapatnam, 4,000 MW thermal power in Srikakulam, and 2,000 MW solar power in Anantapur. The exploratory meeting between the government of Andhra Pradesh and the delegation was to understand the policies of the state government.

The delegation told the CM they will meet officials of 100 companies in New Delhi next month and want a representation from Andhra as a prelude to Naidu’s expected visit to Japan in November.

The delegation evinced interest in transfer of high-technology in agriculture and food processing sectors, cold chains and food parks. They were also keen on an industrial park which will have a dedicated utility centre (DUC) project in AP. The delegation discussed their interest in the Delhi-Mumbai dedicated freight corridor and Bangalore-Chennai Industrial Corridor, which passes through Rayalaseema.

A joint working group has been constituted to look into the proposals made by the Japanese delegation.
