Kajal, Rakul and Alia Bhatt are the hottest patakhas this Diwali
The festival of lights is here and the cracker shops, which have mushroomed in every nook and corner of the city, are all set to satiate last-minute buyers. If theres one thing ubiquitous during Diwali, it is the sight of cracker boxes adorned with smiling faces of pretty actors and celebs, who entice the buyers into picking their favourite figure over others.
And this year, Highway girl Alia Bhatt and our very own Tollywood babes, Kajal Aggarwal and Rakul Preet Singh have emerged the hottest patakhas! Go to any cracker selling market and you will find these actors, smiling or looking up at you. And theyre a big hit with customers too, as the vendors shared with us that crackers having the faces of these stars imprinted on them, sell like hot cakes!
Apart from Venkatadri Express actress Rakul and Kajal Aggarwal, a bevy of other South actresses like Tamannaah, Anushka Shetty, Charmme, Asin and Priyamani can be found on the covers of the firecrackers. Almost all big Tollywood actresses are on the cover boxes, but the winners clearly are Rakul and Kajal. Theyre selling the most, as Rakul can be seen mostly on rocket boxes while Kajal on phuljadis, says Naresh Goud of a firework shop in Kondapur.
Alia Bhatt seems to have taken the Bollywood cracker cover by storm, as she adorns the covers of phuljadis and multi-colour rockets in her sexy avatar. Manoj, from a cracker shop in Gachibowli, says, She seems to be the current favourite amongst youngsters as a number of them are picking up those patakhas that feature her. Other Bollywood actresses whore attracting the buyers are Deepika Padukone, Katrina Kaif, Bipasha Basu, Priyanka Chopra and Kangana Ranaut. Aishwarya Rai Bachchan too remains a favourite amongst many. If Deepika is on flower pots and chakras, Katrina beams from match boxes, even as Aishwarya sits coyly on the covers of rockets and mini-chakras in her dulhan-avatar. The queen Kangana fittingly represents the 1000 ki ladi!
Even as Bollywoods King Khan Shah Rukh made his way on rocket boxes and Shahenshah Big B sits on colourful anars, our Tollywood hunks are nowhere to be seen! Dhamakedaar Indian cricketers, though, like Sachin Tendulkar, MS Dhoni, Harbhajan Singh, Virat Kohli and Virender Sehwag are aptly seen in both six-shot boxes as well as 1000 ki ladis. These faces, however, cater to only one section of the buyers adults. For the main patrons of these products, i.e. children, there are cartoons. The fact is, now-a-days, kids are the decision makers parents have to cave in to the demands of their kids and buy what they want. Kids being kids, obviously go for cracker boxes which have their famous cartoon characters like Chota Bheem, Harry Potter and Aladdin, pasted on them. While they might not know too much about crackers, they go for those that look the brightest and are packaged most attractively, reveals Harish Madhukurri from a cracker shop in Banjara Hills.
So whom have you brought home this Diwali?
