Subhash Ghai's Khalnayak is not ready for a remake yet
Subhash Ghai, who had directed Khalnayak, has rubbished reports of the rights of the Sanjay Dutt-Madhuri Dixit starrer being sold off.
Some time back, there were rumours about Sanjay Dutt's 1993 film, Khalyanak being re-made. However, Subhash Ghai, who had directed the film, has rubbished reports of the rights of the Sanjay Dutt-Madhuri Dixit starrer being sold off.
Speaking to a daily, Ghai denied selling the rights of Khalnayak to Sanjay Leela Bhansali. He said, "I respect Sanjay Leela Bhansali as a unique filmmaker, who has also proven himself as an independent producer with Rowdy Rathod and Mary Kom. But I have not made up my mind about selling the remake rights of Khalnayak. Let's wait and see."
The rights to two other films directed by Ghai, Hero and Ram Lakhan, have already been sold to Salman Khan and Karan Johar respectively. As far as the 1993 hit is concerned, like the director says, we too will have to wait and see if there's a Khalnayak 2.0 on the cards anytime soon.
