Sure, Nokia Lumia 830's display and internal specifications are largely the same as that of Android smartphones by our local players that sell for less than Php 6,000 -- but we have to keep in mind that this handset's Windows Phone operating system - just like iOS - doesn't really need powerhouse hardware to deliver a smooth and enjoyable touch experience.

Microsoft promises a "fast and smooth web browsing, gaming, and overall user experience" on the phone's beautiful and sharp 5-inch HD ClearBlack display -- despite the fact that the device is only powered by a 1.2 GHz Quad Core Snapdragon 400 chipset and has 1 GB of RAM.

Anyway, there are three things I find particularly attractive about Nokia Lumia 830.

First, it has a real metal frame - akin to what's on the more expensive Nokia Lumia 930 - that gives it an air of both elegance and durability -- just like what's expected from a flagship release.

Unlike other smartphones with aluminum shell, Lumia 830 has a plastic back plate - available in Green, Orange, Black, and White - that's 'swappable', giving you access to the phone's removable battery pack and the microSD card memory expansion slot supporting up to 128 GB.

The phone's 2,200 mAh Li-Ion battery keeps you going and even works with the second generation ‘Smart Wireless Charging Plate’ (sold separately), which makes the most convenient way to charge even better by interacting with Lumia smartphones to alert users when it's time to charge by emitting a subtle glow.

Second, Nokia Lumia 830 runs the latest version of Windows Phone 8.1 with Lumia Denim, providing faster connections to everything that matters with Notification Center, Live Tiles, and Microsoft Office.

It also comes bundled with other services by the Redmond Giant including Microsoft OneDrive and Microsoft Office with Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint available out of the box for leading productivity on the go. Live, sync, and instantly share with 15GB of OneDrive storage (boosting the phone's already sizable 16 GB of ROM), which securely connects content with friends, family, and colleagues on the go.

Finally, priced at Php 18,990 (previously Php 20,490), the LTE-enabled Lumia 830 is the most affordable smartphone by Nokia and Microsoft - upon launch - to ship with the Finnish company's legendary PureView Imaging Innovation. As you all know, even before Nokia's Mobile Devices business was acquired by Microsoft, the brand has been widely regarded the maker of the best cameraphones in the world.
