SURAT: An unidentified miscreant looted Rs 12.90 lakh from an employee of a distribution firm of a mobile service provider company on Kudsad-Kareli road on Monday.
As per his daily routine, Ronak Patel collected cash from the distributor's office in Kim village and was returning to the city at around 2.30 pm on his scooter. He was on Kudsad-Kareli road when an unidentified person standing on road pushed him, following which he fell off his scooter.
Patel told police he became unconscious after he hit the road. When he opened his eyes he noticed that his bag containing cash was missing, he claimed. Patel soon informed his office and also alerted the police.
Police have started questioning the people who stay near the location where the incident happened. They are also studying why the victim was targeted and the reason that made him take the road which remains deserted most of the time.
"Police are yet to detect the crime. Someone from the distribution firm may be involved in the loot. Police are checking the movement of employees of the firm to find out the possibility of anyone having tipped off the robbers," said Mohan Rathod, police inspector, Olpad.
"We are also investigating the movement of complainant. There are many other roads, but why did Patel chose Kudsad-Kareli road? He could have taken National Highway 8 or Sayan road," Rathod said.
