After seeing nine players leave in the summer, Gus Poyet insists that he plays no part in the club's transfer policy, according to the Daily Mail.
"I’m a head coach," said Poyet.
"I don’t make the squad, that’s not my job. I’ve got four defenders, I play what I’ve got.
"I’ll take responsibility at a set-piece – it was me, I pick the team and put it on the pitch.
"The rest, I’m sorry, I’m not going to take."
Sunderland spent £14million in the summer transfer window, with the majority of the funds being used to bring Jack Rodwell to the Stadium of Light.
Poyet seems to be on an imminent collision course with owner Ellis Short after the loss against Southampton and his recent comments on the quality of his squad.
