Adele Hall Inducted to Starr Women's Hall of Fame
Kansas City, Missouri (PRWEB) October 22, 2014 -- Adele Hall, local philanthropist and long-time member and past president of the Junior League of Kansas City, Missouri, was honored yesterday with an induction into the inaugural class of the Starr Women’s Hall of Fame.
Hall, who passed away in 2013, will be recognized alongside several other women, including Shirley Helzberg, another noted Junior League member, who have made lasting impacts in their fields of endeavor throughout Kansas City. The Starr Women’s Hall of Fame is named for Martha Jane Starr, a prominent Kansas City philanthropist and one of the first women to become a member of the UMKC Board of Trustees. Starr was a past president of the Junior League of Kansas City, Missouri, and is also being honored as a member of the Starr Women’s Hall of Fame inaugural class. The Hall of Fame is made possible through the Starr Education Committee and is supported by twenty-four civic organizations, including the Junior League of Kansas City, Missouri, that advocate on behalf of women and family issues.
“The Junior League is honored today to celebrate and remember Adele Hall, who truly exemplified through her actions and character everything that we stand for as an organization,” said Julie Randolph, JLKCMO president. “We also celebrate the fact that three of these seven exceptional women to be inducted to the Hall of Fame are past or current Junior League members. We’re proud to have Adele represent the League as one of the first, but certainly not the last, League members to be inducted into the Starr Women’s Hall of Fame.”
In her nomination of Adele Hall, JLKCMO member and past president Mina Steen noted that “[Adele] was out front and at the helm often, but also led with humility.” Of the example that Hall continues to set for members of the Junior League and other women throughout the community, Steen said, “She showed us that how we do our work and how we conduct ourselves are every bit as important as what we strive to accomplish.”
