NCP wins women's panel polls

Ranjana Borade from the NCP won the election to the post of chairperson of the Women and Child Welfare Committee of the Nashik Municipal Corporation (NMC) on Tuesday.

NASHIK: Ranjana Borade from the NCP won the election to the post of chairperson of the Women and Child Welfare Committee of the Nashik Municipal Corporation (NMC) on Tuesday. Yogita Aher from MNS was elected the deputy chairperson.
The election was held after outgoing chairperson Savita Dalwani's (BJP) one-year term ended. The elections were held at the committee office of the headquarters of the municipal corporation at the Rajiv Gandhi Bhavan.
Four candidates — Ranjana Borade (NCP), Suman Ohol (MNS), Manisha Hekare (Shiv Sena) and Yogita Aher (Congress) had filed their nominations for the election to the chairperson of the women's panel.

In the nine-member panel, the MNS had three seats, while Shiv Sena and the NCP had two seats each. The Congress and BJP had one seat each.
Borade earned six votes in her favour to win the polls.
The election to the deputy chairperson were also held after the committee chairperson's election. Three candidates- Suvarna Matale (MNS), Manisha Hekare (Shiv Sena) and Yogita Aher (Congress) had filed their nominations for the post of the deputy chairperson of the committee of the municipal corporation.
Aher eventually withdrew her application and the elections were held between Matale and Hekare. Matale from MNS won the post after she received six votes and defeated Hekare.
The nine-member committee had been reconstituted in the month of August following appointment of new nine members in place of those retired. The nine members on the panel are Suvarna Matale, Savita Kale and Suman Ohol from MNS, Manisha Hekare and Lalita Bhalerao from Shiv Sena, Vaishali Dani and Ranjana Borade from NCP, Seema Hiray from BJP Yogita Aher from Congress.
