Teenage star Leona Maguire will return to the top level of international action in the New Year after a season on the sidelines when she lines up in the Astor Trophy in Adelaide.

Formerly the Commonwealth tournament, the Astor Trophy was won by Great Britain and Ireland at Fairhaven in Lancashire the last time it was contested in 2011.

Maguire from the Slieve Russell Club is part of a strong five-player team which has a useful blend of youth and experience. They will be facing up to the best players from Australia, Canada, New Zealand and South Africa in this historic event at the Grange Club from January 12 to 16.

Maguire is in her first year at Dukes University in California, and she missed this year's Curtis Cup and Home Internationals.
