YOUTH and Sport Minister Chishimba Kambwili has appealed to all the youths in Zambia to get actively involved in this year’s Golden Jubilee celebrations.
Mr Kambwili said during the Luanshya municipal council Golden Jubilee stakeholders’ dance at Mubende Lodge in Luanshya on Monday night that youths should take centre stage in all the events before and during the Golden Jubilee independence celebration on Friday.
This was because they are the future of Zambia.
“Everybody especially the youth should participate in these celebrations. No one deserves to be left out as Zambia attains the year of completeness,” Mr Kambwili said.
He said Government wanted everybody to participate in this year’s Golden Jubilee because they had big plans to see total transformation after entering the year of Jubilee.
Government was determined that all citizens took an active role in national development using the people-centred economic growth and development approach.
The event on Monday night, he said, was not just for merry-making but an opportunity to chart the way forward for the country for the next 50 years.
It was also an opportunity to make a fresh start in helping Government provide services to its people.
Mr Kambwili urged Zambians to support the revised Sixth National Development Plan because it was a good Government development agenda.
He said in line with giving Luanshya residents development, Government had agreed to finance the resurfacing and rehabilitating of an additional 50 kilometres of township roads in Luanshya under the urban roads rehabilitation project.
Last year, Government financed the resurfacing and rehabilitation of 26.8 kilometres of urban roads in Luanshya.
