Actor Simon Pegg says happiness is a Jaguar XKR
Actor Simon Pegg has a whole host of deep meaningful things that make him happy.
But the star of Hector and the Search for Happiness is also very thankful for his white Jaguar XKR.
"I did a classic middle-aged man thing. I bought a white Jaguar XKR," says Pegg, 44. "I had to ask my wife if i was allowed. And I said, 'If I do a couple of conventions and maybe this commercial, can I buy a really fast car?' And she was like, 'Okay.' "
Consider it done. Pegg is the proud owner. And the English actor/director/screenwriter even committed the cardinal sin -- he bought an automatic. People can be tried for driving an automatic in Britain.
" I have gotten used to driving an automatic," says Pegg. "Once you drive an automatic you think, 'Why does anyone drive stick?' "
Pegg admits he hasn't quite gotten around to the extra conventions or commercials. But he 's doing alright, due to appear in Mission:Impossible 5 and the Star Trek franchise. "I'll be paying for this for years," he admits.
But it's worth every penny to him. Just ask his five-year-old daughter Matilda.
"She calls it the super-zoomy car," says Pegg, gleefully. "It's white, it's sleek and it goes like a rocket. I love it very much."
