Kavya Madhavan to play a corporate employee opposite Vijay Babu
After Saji Surendran’s She-Taxi, Kavya Madhavan has signed her next, Khais Millen’s Akashavani. The actress will be playing a character diametrically opposite to her usual traditional avatars — that of a corporate employee. Vijay Babu plays her husband, and the story revolves around the ego clashes between the husband and wife, both of whom are successful in their respective careers.

“Kavya plays a TV anchor and creative head of a women’s TV channel. She is in a powerful position and is the daughter of a rich father, while I am someone working in a construction company, who reached the position through his own hard work. They have a six-year-old kid, but have arguments on a daily basis as to who is more powerful,” says Vijay.
Kavya has never played a professional before, and the character is going to be doubly challenging for her as the treatment is through humour, he adds. “The couple share a Tom and Jerry kind of relationship, and most of the film takes place inside their home. The issue is something all working couples can relate to,” he says.
Besides Kavya and Vijay, Sreejith Ravi, Saiju Kurup and Lalu Alex play important roles, with Lalu playing Kavya’s father. The shoot for the film has started, and Kavya will be joining the set soon after the first schedule of She-Taxi gets over. This will be Khais Millen’s debut feature film. He has worked as Shyamaprasad’s associate earlier. Khais’ short film Lipstick, which has homosexuality as its theme, won much critical acclaim.
