Ketan’s Rang Rasiya becomes a festival favourite
Ketan Mehta’s Rang Rasiya, a biopic that encapsulates the love and life of one of India’s most celebrated painters Raja Ravi Varma, has been invited for screening to several cities including Oslo (Norway), Washington, Chicago, New York, London, Galle (Sri Lanka) and Sofia (Bulgaria) and has received a standing ovation at most film festivals.
Presented by Jayantilal Gada (PEN) and produced by Deepa Sahi and Aanand Mehendroo, it was voted the “favourite film” amongst 28 movies that were screened at the London Indian Film Festival.

Said Cary Sawhney, Festival Director, “Mehta’s homage offers not only a spectacular insight into a turning point in Indian history, but also questions the freedom of the artist in contemporary society.”
Rang Rasiya was also the opening film at the film festival of Florence. The organisers were so impressed with the film during the selection process itself that they preceded the screening with an exhibition curated by Giovanni Aprile, who dedicated it to “the painter who showed his unconventionality in his life and work, upsetting 19th century India.”
The film has been co-produced by Dhaval Jayantilal Gada, Kushal Kantilal Gada and Reshmaa Kadakia, with music composed by Sandesh Shandilya.
Rang Rasiya releases November 7.
