BANGALORE: State food and civil supplies minister
Dinesh Gundu Rao’s controversial tweet on the
Congress debacle in
Maharashtra assembly polls has prompted a gag order on his party colleagues. KPCC president
G Parameshwara on Tuesday issued an order, advising all Congressmen against making statements in public and to the media that harm the party’s interest.
Commenting on the Maharashtra and Haryana polls results on October 19, Rao had tweeted “@INCIndia will learn from its losses.
Time to strengthen committed grassroot leaders and weed out effete leaders operating out from Delhi.”
The gag order also holds good for seemingly positive statements, such as the one made by social welfare minister H Anjaneya, who said the Congress will be there till sun and moon exist and nobody can write off the party due to poll debacles. “The BJP cannot take Congress so lightly. Congress’s strength is such that even if a donkey is given the party ticket, it will easily fetch 25,000-30,000 votes,” he said.
Gundu Rao's tweet attracted lot of criticisms as he vented his ire on Congress leaders sitting in Delhi.
Gundu Rao's twitter handle @dineshgrao on Tuesday had only a tweet on his food department. Interestingly, he has deleted all the tweets made till October 20.
Meanwhile, youth Congress functionaries gave a memorandum to chief minister Siddaramaiah and Parameshwara urging them to take action aganist Gundu Rao.
