The industry in Telangana has appealed to the State Government to restore regular power supply. The Federation of Andhra Pradesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FAPCCI) has said that the two-day power holiday in the State is resulting in huge production and financial losses to the industrial units, particularly the small-scale units.
Appealing the Government to take measures to lift the power holiday, the association pointed out that the small-scale units could not afford the diesel generator sets.
“We are told by the officials of the Energy Department that power holidays will continue till the first week of November,” the association said here in a statement on Tuesday.
Facing a severe shortage for power during the peak of kharif season, the Government is imposing power cuts in the range of four to eight hours in different parts of the State. The State has bought 152 million units of power from October 1 to October 22 at Rs 7.97 a unit, costing Rs 121 crore.
A FAPCCI team discussed the situation on Tuesday and requested the government give it a respite. Once the kharif demand is met, the Government is expected to reduce the power holiday from two days to one day a week.
