The history of the sacred city: Mecca

LNL has discussed before the destruction of historical sites in the Muslim sacred city of Mecca previously but Pakistani born English raised writer Zia Sardar takes it further. He writes that Mecca continues to be the spiritual heart for the millions of pilgrims who flock to the city every year but despite the new buildings and shopping malls, contemporary Mecca has reverted to its old self and become the pagan heart of Arabia.
