Top Dermatologist Sabrina Fabi Gives Web Talk Radio Interview
San Diego, CA (PRWEB) October 21, 2014 -- Expert dermatologist Dr. Sabrina Fabi of Cosmetic Laser Dermatology in San Diego was recently interviewed on the popular web radio show Inside Cosmetic Surgery Today. Dr. Fabi was interviewed by show host Dr. Barry Lycka, a cosmetic dermatologist based in Edmonton. The two discussed noninvasive fat reduction procedures as well as the recent trend of combining noninvasive facial procedures such as dermal fillers and Botox in what is known as a “liquid facelift.”
“I’m happy to have been able to discuss these procedures with Dr. Lycka,” said Dr. Fabi. “Noninvasive cosmetic procedures have become much more popular lately, and this was a chance to discuss some of the benefits of these procedures and weigh the pros and cons of noninvasive procedures versus surgical procedures.”
Dr. Fabi and Dr. Lycka discussed two popular noninvasive fat reduction procedures, CoolSculpting and Liposonix. These two procedures are both targeted at reducing small areas of stubborn fat, but the technology used is different. CoolSculpting uses cryolipolisis, a technology that literally freezes away the fat cells in the targeted areas. Liposonix, on the other hand, uses high-intensity focused ultrasound technology to target and destroy fat cells. Which procedure is best for a specific patient depends on a variety of factors, which will be discussed in a consultation in order to determine the best procedure.
“There are a variety of procedures available to help patients get rid of unwanted fat, including liposculpture as well as noninvasive methods,” explained Dr. Fabi. “Which procedure is best for a patient will depend on their specific goals and concerns. This is why a consultation is such an important step when considering fat reduction procedure.”
After discussing CoolSculpting and Liposonix, the doctors moved on to a discussion about combining noninvasive facial procedures such as dermal fillers, Botox, and skin tightening devices. Nonsurgical facelifts, or liquid facelifts as they are colloquially known, have been on the rise as well. There are many benefits to combining noninvasive procedures for the face, but an expert dermatologist is necessary to let the patient know what can and can’t be combined, and what combinations will have the best effect. Skin tighteners and dermal fillers often go hand in hand, as do different dermal fillers for different areas of concern.
“It has become a fairly common practice to combine noninvasive facial procedures in order to give patients who don’t want surgery more comprehensive results, “ said Dr. Fabi. “For instance, Botox for crow’s feet may be combined with Restylane to give the lips more volume and Juvederm Voluma to restore lost volume to the cheeks. Skin tighteners such as Ultherapy may be used as well to tighten and lift skin which has begun to sag or lose its elasticity. There are a variety of combinations available that can be customized for each patient’s individual concerns, and I have published on many safe and effective same-day combination treatments.”
