SURAT: Localized unseasonal rains in some parts of
Dangs, Navsari and
Tapi district had people running for cover late Monday evening. Even the fire cracker stall owners suffered some damage following the rain.
At a time when
Diwali festival days have started, Wagai of Dangs suddenly received rains on Monday evening with high velocity winds. This resulted in some trees being uprooted and fire crackers getting wet.
A 55 year old man named Saiyed Khalifa was injured when a tree fell on him and his saloon .The injured man was rushed for treatment. Wagai recorded nearly 50 mm of rains in one hour of Monday evening.
Border villages of Tapi district with Maharastra also recorded some rains on Monday evening. The villages include Sunderpur, Manekpur and Khabka of Utchal taluka of Tapi district.
No Major damage to life or property was recorded due to rains but it has put a scare in the minds of fire cracker sellers.
There are reports of some isolated rainfall in some villages of Surat district too.
